What is the Gospel?

"Gospel" means good news. It's the message that God offers salvation and reconciliation through Jesus Christ.

The Gospel in 4 Words

1

GOD

God created us for relationship with Him. He is holy, just, and loving.

"In the beginning, God created" (Genesis 1:1)
2

MAN

Humanity sinned and broke relationship with God. We're spiritually dead, separated from Him.

"All have sinned and fall short" (Romans 3:23)
3

CHRIST

Jesus lived sinlessly, died for our sins, and rose from the dead, making salvation possible.

"Christ died for our sins" (1 Cor 15:3)
4

RESPONSE

We must repent of sin and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

"Repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15)

The Gospel Explained

1. The Problem: Sin

Sin separates us from God. The penalty is death—eternal separation. We cannot save ourselves.

2. The Solution: Jesus

Jesus paid the penalty we owed. He took God's wrath in our place. His resurrection proves He conquered sin and death.

3. The Gift: Salvation

Salvation is a free gift, not earned. God offers forgiveness, new life, and eternal relationship.

4. The Response: Faith

We must repent (turn from sin) and believe (trust Jesus as Lord). This isn't just intellectual—it's life transformation.

How to Receive the Gospel

1. Admit You're a Sinner

Acknowledge your sin and need for a Savior

2. Believe Jesus Died for You

Trust that His death and resurrection paid for your sin

3. Confess Jesus as Lord

Surrender your life to His lordship and authority

4. Receive Him by Faith

Ask Jesus to save you, forgive you, and become your Lord

A Prayer to Receive Christ

"Lord Jesus, I admit I'm a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. I surrender my life to You and receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Remember:

  • Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone
  • It's not about being good enough—it's about Jesus being enough
  • The Gospel is for everyone, no matter what you've done
  • Once saved, you're eternally secure in Christ
